    IELTS Speaking Part 1 Tips

Here are 7 IELTS Speaking part 1 tips seven tips on how
you can sound like you are fluent throughout the IELTS Speaking Test Part 1 section.

Tip 1 Make sure you stay on topic.

Staying on topic is so important and it’s so easy that when the examiner asks you a question, you give him an answer that doesn’t relate to the topic at all.
So you need to make sure you stay on topic, you give not really short answers,
but at least a two sentence answer for each question he asks you in IELTS speaking part one, you need to flaunt your English speaking skills,
you need to show it off since first impressions matter 🙂

Tip 2  Avoid using filler words

Avoid using filler words such as ” like”

Instead use these types of words

    “That’s a good question.”
    “Oh, that’s an interesting question.”

    “Let me think about that.”
Even if you need to think about it, say, let me think about that.
Don’t say “umm”, “uhh” or remain silent.
Especially because these are not good words to use in IELTS speaking
part one, show off your English speaking skills by giving a good answer even
if you need to think about it for a minute. That’s a good question. Let me think about it and take a second or two to think about the answer.

Tip 3 Try to answer with two to three sentences maximum for the part 1 IELTS speaking questions

So even if the examiner asks you what is your name?
    You don’t say

my name, my name is Sarah.Try to give them a nickname that your friends call you.

“My actual name is Sarah, however, I go by Sare with all my friends.”

If you are able to do this, the examiner gets an idea of your comfort level of speaking English and he gets an idea of how you connect sentences together throughout your IELTS speaking test questions.

Tip 4  When you are discussing your IELTS speaking part 1 questions, try to use vocabulary that’s related to the context

If the examiner asks you a question in the different IELTS speaking subjects like:
what do you like to do for fun?

    You could say:
“During my leisure time, I enjoy playing sports and taking my kids to the park. I usually play soccer on Thursday nights because I find it to be such a great way too relieve stress after a long day.”

Using these proper terms and clarifying what you are trying to say by using related vocabulary words will help the examiner get an idea of what you are trying to say in your answer.

Tip 5  Do not memorize answers when looking at part 1 IELTS speaking questions and answers

The examiner is very sharp. He has an idea that you looked up speaking IELTS topics with answers hat you read online and you memorized it. So instead work on the answer coming out as natural as possible, that way the examiner gets an idea of your comfort level of being able to carry on a conversation.

Tip 6 – Try not to repeat yourself over and over again just for the sake of filling in that time.

If you are done answering the IELTS speaking questions, just stay quiet. There’s no need to continue on and ramble on because you are nervous. Try to respond with three sentences max and if you cannot get to the answer then just stay quiet.

Tip 7  Try to use idioms.

Do not use slang language when you are responding to the examiner in your speaking task 1 IELTS, but try to use idioms so you are able to show the examiner your comfort level of speaking English and that you are able to
pull out certain idioms that relate to the given topic to the examiner.
