    Are you feeling overwhelmed at where to start to prepare for IELTS? As an IELTS coach, I can feel your frustration, especially because there is so much material to cover. It’s not necessarily true that consistently practicing with an IELTS online test will help you score better. I’ve taught hundreds of my students who thought practicing an IELTS online test would help them prepare for the British Council IELTS test. However, that’s not necessarily true, especially if you don’t understand the basics of what makes a good essay for writing task 2.

    In this article, I share many tips for IELTS writing that I shared with my students, especially when it comes to the IELTS Writing task 2 structure.  I will share strategies that have helped hundreds of my students achieve a high band in task 2 writing IELTS. Also, I will touch up on the IELTS writing task 2 structure of your essay where I will show you what information you should include within each paragraph.     Tips for Task 2 Writing IELTS

    Before I provide you with some tips for IELTS Writing Task 2, it is important to note two things, the first is that you should consider these strategies for any recent IELTS writing task 2 essay. In other words, if you compare the question format between the IELTS Academic vs general exam, you will be given an essay question for both. Therefore, you should use these tips for IELTS Writing Task 2 for both IELTS tests.

    Additionally, these tips for IELTS writing task 2 can be used for recent IELTS task 2 tests, since they are the most updated strategies that can help you achieve a high IELTS band score.

    IELTS Band Score for IELTS Writing Task 2

    You will be able to achieve a high IELTS band score only if you are able to be consistent throughout your Task 2 Writing IELTS essay:

    • When you are writing your essay, the first step you must take is to make sure you understand the question that is being asked. After that, you must ensure that you are straight forward when you are answering the question throughout your essay. In this article, I also discuss vocabulary for IELTS writing task 2 band 8.

    Next, you must ensure that you are aware of your sentences being without any errors such as the use of capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

    Also, you must be aware that the IELTS topics for writing task 2 are more specific in the academic exam than the general exam.

    Next, I have taught the importance of outlining your essay before you start writing any of the tasks for the IELTS general writing task 1 or the writing task 2.     IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay

    As I mentioned earlier, the first step is that you should understand the question in your IELTS writing task 2 essay. While this may sound easy to do, you must choose if the essay is asking you to include a discussion about both sides of an argument or if you should choose a side while supporting your ideas. Thus, this is a very important process of scoring a high IELTS band score.

    IELTS Writing Task 2- Question Types

    Although I do not have an IELTS band calculator, I will provide you with exactly what the IELTS examiner is looking for. In this section, I will go through all the different question types you may get in the IELTS writing task 2. Additionally, I will cover what format your IELTS essay should look like for all the different question types. These IELTS tips and tricks will help you to score a high IELTS band score.

    Tips for IELTS Writing

    Now that I’ve supported you with the format of your essay for the IELTS Writing task 2 essay, you must ensure that you are familiar with the different IELTS topics for writing. This will ensure you understand the question so you choose the correct format to write your essay in.

    After this, it is important that you stay within the minimum 250-word limit for your task 2 Writing IELTS. This will help you achieve a high IELTS band score. Finally, I hope that me being your IELTS mentor writing task 2 will help you succeed within your test.
